Singapore may not have any mountains but there are still a handful of hills you can trek, and with the Park Connector system you can even make your way across the island if you're really thinking of testing yourself!

To get you started on your outdoor adventures, here are the 21best hiking and walking trails in Singapore, with halal food nearby! ? Remember to pack light and bring along your mosquito repellent, sunglasses, and a bottle of water to stay healthy and hydrated throughout your hike!

Hiking trails for long-distance hikes

1. Coast-to-Coast Trail

Credit: Dewi Illyana

If you're up for a challenge, the 36km Coast-to-Coast Trail is a good option! Starting from Jurong Lake Gardens and stretching all the way to Coney Island, there are 10 checkpoints along the whole trail. Throughout the trail, you'll get to see a different side of Singapore and explore new spots like the Lornie Nature Corridor, Sengkang Floating Wetlands and more. Check out our guide to the Coast-to-Coast Trail for tips, what to see and halal food along the way!

2. The Green Corridor (Rail Corridor)

Singapore’s Green Corridor (or Rail Corridor) has a great mix of nature, IG-worthy spots and history. It used to be part of Malaysia’s KTM railway line connecting Singapore and Malaysia. Even though the railway has ceased operations since 2011, parts of the 24-km route have been converted into a nature trail. The trail goes from Kranji to Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Holland, Tanglin and finally ending at Alexandra. While the Green Corridor will only be fully completed in 2025, you can still explore the corridor through a mix of dirt paths, designated pavements and remnants of the railway tracks. Check out our guide to the Green Corridor for more info on what to see, halal food along the way and more!

Hiking trails for an educational/historic hike

Nature, history, and heritage come together in several of Singapore's parks. From World War 2-era forts to colonial remnants to 20th-century pioneers, these are the trekking trails that will teach you about Singapore's past along the way.

3. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

Home to Bukit Timah, this is the closest you'll get to a 'mountain' in Singapore ? At 164 metres above sea level, this is the highest point in Singapore with 4 routes leading up to the top. Routes 1 and 2 are marked as 'easy', whereas routes 3 and 4 are marked as 'moderate' and 'difficult' respectively so you can plan your trek according to your own confidence level. The routes may get steep at times, but they're also full of wildlife so you can enjoy the walk on the way up. There is a bike trail for the more adventurous outdoorsman, and public walking groups are often organized to help you better appreciate the variety of native flora and fauna. Don't miss out on the stunning quarry at Hindhede Nature Park too!

P.S. You can also visit the Dairy Farm Nature Park right next door, which includes the Wallace Trail!
