A short 8 minute walk away from Kyoto station, this is the perfect place to spend a night or two, particularly if you rent a bicycle from the fantastic rental place around the corner. There’s a sento nearby but the hotel also has its own bathtubs. Staff was super kind and helpful. Would stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

I really enjoyed staying here. It is very quiet per some of the other reviews but since I only was there to sleep, I didn't mind. Room was comfortable and had a surprising amount of space. Staff was super friendly. Check in and out was easy, and they even carried my bag up to my room after letting me drop it off early. I would definitely return.

The hostel is really one of a kind and it's location is amazing. Within only a twenty minute walk along one street you find yourself in the heart of Kyoto. The combination of modern and traditional design is just beautiful and gives the hostel a peaceful vibe. I stayed for three nights. Check-in and check-out were both super easy. I could even leave my luggage before I checked in and after I checked out and they even brang it to my room for me already before I checked in. Everything was also super clean (rooms, bathroom, shower, lounge) and the hostel was so, so quiet! I stayed at the main house Omoya and had a room on the side of the building that is facing the street. Since the windows do not seem to be very well insulated, the noises of the street can be disturbing sometimes. But I still had a good sleep thanks to ear plugs. I can really recommend choosing this hostel for your stay in Tokyo!

Shizuya is a beautiful hotel, I loved the cosy atmosphere starting from the lobby. I also want to recognize the amazing staff who is very professional and nice. I had an issue with my luggage delivery service and they really took some time and effort to help me find and get it back. They were amazing. I highly recommend Shizuya next time you want to stay in Kyoto!
