This is my first ever hostel I’ve stayed at and as someone who likes the finer things I was scared ? but this hostel was actually really enjoyable. We did get a private room which I recommend if you’re a bit introverted like me. It was clean, the futon was comfortable and the bathroom served a purpose but wasn’t enjoyable having a wet floor for the rest of the trip. The staff are very friendly and have a heap of recommendations and love hearing about your trips (shout out to the young Japanese girl I never got the name off, your energy made our mornings) but all in all this was actually a great place for the price.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel! We had a private room for two and it was perfect, there was even a bathtub! I enjoyed the Japanese traditional style with tatami and futon! The staff was always super friendly and helpful! It’s just a bit far away from the main spots of Kyoto but with the bus you can easily reach everything!

If you're looking for a centrally located hostel, comfortable tatami mats, a quiet but social hostel, and great customer service, come to Hana Hostel. Emiko was a great hostess and was always available (during business hours of course) for all of our questions regarding the hostel, kyoto, and other destinations in Japan. I would definitely come again on my next visit to Kyoto. ありがとございます!

Chose to stay there for location, by the station for 2 days. The staff were great there, they put you at ease. The facilities were clean, and the sleeping dorms were private with the curtains put in. Good to stay for a few days.
