My wife and I spent 5 nights and cannot recommend it highly enough. The service is 5 star from all the staff and the breakfasts were delicious. The hotel has an amazing ambiance. We had the garden room and it was very tranquil and relaxing. The location was perfect, walking distance to Kyoto station and all that Kyoto has to offer. We cannot wait to return.

I adored this property. The staff was remarkably warm and attentive. I loved the high design and countless thoughtful touches from the Japanese skin care amenities, salts for the bathtub, to welcome drinks and golden hour drinks on the rooftop, It’s all just lovely. Food was super fresh and delicious!!! So if you want to stay and enjoy the views you can :-). Neighborhood is charming. I would go out of my way to stay here again on my next trip.

This hotel was our favorite spot out of 4 stops in Japan. 1. Location is great, 20 minutes or less walking from Kyoto Station and 20 minutes or less walking to Gion- plenty of places around the corner for food!! 2. Beautiful room- we had the pleasure of staying on the first floor, which opened up to a balcony/garden space & the river to walk around. Great access and comfortable beds, seating, bathroom area. Extras like a heated floor and soaking tub were over the top! 3. Every staff member was helpful if needed and let us roam otherwise... super comfortable feeling! 4. Free Laundry! Free Breakfast! Great way to start the day and finish. Breakfast had multiple options to choose from- we mixed it up a few days, all were delicious! Laundry was free and included soap, just had to time it correctly with other guests as there are 2 units.

I recently stayed at Hotel Genji Kyoto as a group of 4 people, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—their kindness and attentiveness truly stood out. One of the best features of this hotel was the washing machine facilities! This was a useful surpise. Beyond that, the hotel itself was lovely—stylish, well-maintained, and in a great location for exploring Kyoto. The room was cozy and thoughtfully designed, and the little touches (like the friendly greetings every time we walked in) made it feel like a home away from home. If you’re looking for a welcoming, well-equipped, and centrally located hotel in Kyoto, Hotel Genji Kyoto is an outstanding choice. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip! Highly recommended! ?✨

Our stay was fabulous. The hotel is thoughtfully and beautifully designed to fit into the charming and cozy neighborhood while offering top amenities. Beautiful views of the river from the rooftop with breakfast and happy hour. The room was lovely with heated floors and other special touches and the location convenient but tucked away and quiet. Special thanks go to Sergei who was so welcoming and friendly and gave great advice on neighborhoods to explore and other logistics. Would love to return!
