We had the pleasure of staying at Lagoon Gate Resort in Tangalle for 4 nights, and we were so enchanted by the place that we extended our stay to a full week. This resort is a true oasis of tranquility, nestled in stunning natural surroundings. The property is brand new, beautifully designed, and offers everything you could wish for, whether you're looking for an active vacation or simply a place to unwind. The food is exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and wonderfully priced. In addition, they offer unlimited complimentary bottled water, which is a lovely touch. But what truly sets this resort apart are the people who run it. The entire team goes above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and at home. They’re genuinely dedicated to ensuring that your stay is as enjoyable as possible and are happy to arrange activities or transport like Tuk Tuks and scooters for exploring the area. You can really feel that they care about their guests’ happiness. We also highly recommend booking a massage—it was a wonderful experience. Given that the location is a bit off the beaten path and Google Maps doesn’t always show the correct route, we suggest contacting the resort beforehand for precise directions to ensure a smooth arrival. We absolutely fell in love with Lagoon Gate Resort, and we can’t wait to return on our next trip to Sri Lanka. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special!

This is by far one of the cleanest rooms we’ve ever stayed in. My husband and I have traveled extensively, and this hotel truly stands out for its impeccable cleanliness. Though the hotel was built 2 years ago, it felt like a brand-new room and washroom. Both the room and the washroom were spotless. We would give more than 5 stars if we could! The amenities provided were perfect, offering excellent value for money. The support staff was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking comfort, high quality,good food and exceptional service. We’ll definitely be returning. Keep up the fantastic work

This place has carefully crafted an unforgettable experience for our family. From the moment we arrived, every member of the team—including the owner, Lalit—made a genuine effort to build personal connections with their guests. The rooms and bathrooms were incredibly spacious, and the quality of the linens and bedding was excellent. The natural surroundings, with their lush flora and fauna, created a serene and soul-enriching atmosphere. The freshly prepared meals, made with local ingredients, were absolutely delicious. Our six-year-old son had a wonderful time, especially in the kitchen, where the warm and welcoming staff made him feel right at home—he still talks about it! The complimentary kayaking experience was fantastic, and the sight of the turtle added to the magic. One of the most heartwarming moments was witnessing baby turtles making their way to the ocean—a truly unforgettable experience. On top of that, the natural beaches here were the most breathtaking we have ever seen—and having visited 22 countries, that’s saying something. The warmth and authenticity of Sri Lankan hospitality here surpassed even the five-star hotel we are currently staying at in Kandy.

My wife and I stayed at Lagoon Gate during our short trip to Tangalle. Due to the affordable cost of the lodgings, we were unsure what type or property it would be and what kind of service we would get; however, once arriving, we were very impressed with the property and the staff on site. The rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with a balcony to relax on in the evening. The swimming pool on site is warm and has a great surrounding area. As the property only has 6-8 guesthouses, it is not too overcrowded and an overall peaceful experience if you are looking to relax. For those active guests, kayaks are available to use free of change and gives you a chance to paddle over to the neighbouring island to explore the beach (it took us about 25 Minutes in a double kayak). As it is in quite a remote location, there are no options to venture out for meals (unless you have a car); therefore, your only option is dining in the property’s on-site restaurant. This wasn’t a problem though, as the food was fantastic and the service even better. The portion sizes are massive and the owner was always giving us little extras, such as fruit, soup and even a few local spirits. The menu was reasonably priced, with the majority of main meals costing between 7-9 USD and had a fairly wide selection of local and international options. They also have a selection of beer and spirits for those looking to have a few drinks (also a stocked mini bar in your room). Over all, we would give our stay a solid 10/10 as it more than exceeded our expectations, considering the price. Will definitely be back in the future. Mark & Sarah

We had the most wonderful time at Lagoon Gate. The room was fantastic, very spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed the pool area. Because of the location away from town we decided to eat at the resort - we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding - delicious and plentiful. Great value. Our stay was made all the better because of the hospitality of the owner and his wife - you could not meet a more friendly and helpful couple. The could not do enough to make our stay so memorable. Fantastic.
