One of my favorite temples in Kyoto! It's peaceful, so you can wander around without getting caught up in a crowd of people. The red leaves on the trees make for a mystical atmosphere! The little pond with the carp is sumptuous. The interior of the temple is also very beautiful, and walking around barefoot or in socks makes you feel like you've stepped out of time! A must-see if you're visiting Kyoto!

A beautiful Buddhist temple located at the end of the Philosopher’s Path that prides themselves and being known for their fall foliage. A MUST visit if you’re in Kyoto during the maple leaves changing colors. We saw a rainbow of colors from greens to yellows to oranges to reds. Absolutely incredible. Sometimes it feels as though you are walking through tree tunnels as a canopy of rainbow maple leaves dance above you. It gets very crowded compared to other temples in the area. Be prepared to be around a lot of people. Allow plenty of time for your visit, you won’t want to rush through this experience. Restrooms are located near the exit.

When they say Eikando is one of the best spots for autumn viewing, they were not kidding! IT IS ABSOLUTELY GOREGEOUS!! Came here 1st week of December. Maple trees are so dense, you'll see a glimpse from the gates. Once you enter, you'll be overwhelmed by how beautiful and colorful and magical it is to be under the canopy of momiji ? I little more expensive at ¥1,000, but I cherish the experience more than the price. Yes, expect crowds but that does not take away the joy of seeing such a scenery.

Beautiful and majestic temple. Just off the philosophers path and a wonderful way to spend some time as you approach the end of the path. Also found what appeared to be an aquaduct within the grounds.

An amazing place and find! We were walking to another recommended temple in the area when we came across this beautiful place. We spent so much time here we didn't end up getting to our destination ?. Wonderfully restored and kept buildings and garden
