Best place on earth to relax a little bit! Thank you to laki for making me feel amazingly welcome. His food is delicious and you won’t be disappointed by the beach that’s only 600m away. I definitely consider you to stay here. For solo travelers, couples or even families.

Laki leaves no wish unfulfilled and makes the best Curry in Sri Lanka. A nice and quiet beach is in walking distance.

Had the most amazing stay in Schatzi's Hideaway. Laki was a brilliant host, helping us with everything from bikes to shoe stores nearby. He's also an excellent cook, so there is dinner available which is totally worth it. Beaches nearby are superior, nicest beaches I've seen in Sri Lanka. Great for surfing as well.

We highly valued the below and more, during our stay from 08 to 19 February 2025: * The owners aim to offer such a high level of service, that I'd only expect from a Hilton Hotel for a member of the Hilton family! ? Responsive owner promptly handled most concerns we had, such as: kidnapping, sleeping hot, missing furniture, meals details, cash withdrawal, Booking.com limitations, local SIM card, patchy wifi etc ? ? Gregarious respectful guests give it a healthy community vibe, easy to make new friends ? Beautiful greenery throughout & in surrounds * Awesome staff onsite 24/7. * Eco-friendly features throughout the property. ? Free unsolicited wake-up service from local temple. * Short enough walk to the beach, passing by a bit of the lagoon, forest, and village. * Delicious healthy freshly made meals available at reasonable prices compared to local alternatives. ? Limited Wifi helps curb Internet addiction. * Front varandah can be a lovely gathering space for guests and hosts and for watching human and non-human animals pass by or visit at various times. * As compared to the several accommodations we stayed at in India just prior, this is the only place that provided toilet paper, paper towel, nightly mosquito repellent smoke on varandah, mosquito nets over all beds, as well as 1 mosquito net over 1 of the bedroom windows. * The hosts clearly know some of what Westerners are accustomed/sensitive to, and often wish from our travels, and offer a beautifully blended cultural experience. * Verbal communications were not always easy, but even that and the non-verbal language are clearly heart-led in a spirit of abundance, respect, and care.

A real gem , authentic Sri Lankan food and hospitality, friendly prices great value for money , good kitchen and a stocked fridge. Nothing is too much trouble. Added benefits it's so close to the beach and a natural mangrove area where you'll see all kinds of wildlife just on the way to the beach. The beach is super clean , swimming is possible and you can walk along for some distance and watch the fishermen bring their catch in. Locals are very friendly , they really love to talk to you .If you're here to discover the real Sri Lanka then you won't be disappointed by this lovely little secret ...ssssh !
