Singapore has just announced that dining in can resume from next Monday (21 June) in groups of 2, instead of the previous 5. This comes after the country exited Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) on 14 June, with the second exit phase planned to start on Monday to allow people to dine in. The limit to the number of people in a group will be increased to 5 from mid-July, as announced by Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Although we were looking forward to catching up with our group of friends over a meal, do take note to observe the maximum pax of 2 for dine-in rules! Can I dine in with my family?
For now, families will be glad to know that you may still head out to dine in at restaurants, but you have to sit at multiple tables in a pax of 2. This means that if you live in the same household, you can go out in groups of 5 and dine in groups of 2 at separate tables.
Can I dine in with friends?
If you are heading out in a group of 2, you will be able to dine in at restaurants. For groups of more than 2 who don't live under the same household, you will not be able to book multiple tables at eateries. This means that if you are going out with friends in a group of more than 2 people, you will not be able to dine in at restaurants. Households are still allowed to accept 5 visitors in a day, so you can still plan a hangout at home with your friends!
