While we're all looking forward to catching up with a group of friends over halal brunch or a nice cup of afternoon tea, it's best to plan in advance and make your bookings early. Located in Bugis, Arab Street food is full of a variety of cuisines from Swedish to Western and even fusion food. You can expect a wide range of halal cafes here along the nearby Beach Road, Bussorah Street and North Bridge Road too, which makes it the best location to have your yummy meals.

1. Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro

Serving quality Swedish meals at the corner of Arab Street and Beach Road is Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro. From getting your Swedish meatballs fix to other fascinating dishes like Panbiff (homemade beef patties with mashed potatoes), Fika gives you a taste of authentic and halal Swedish cuisine for brunch. Their All Day Breakfast menu consists of the Fika Breakfast and Breakfast Waffle - this one has a buttermilk waffle with bacon, mushroom compote, and sausages. Something we'd eat for brunch! If you've been searching for a halal snack pack to tide you over, look no further because Overrice is Singapore's answer to the famous chain The Halal Guys! Their bowls are filled with basmati rice, lettuce, tomatoes, pita bread, and your choice of chicken, pulled beef or falafel. Their Arab Street outlet has an extensive menu that includes mouth-watering snacks like the Overrice Fries, Buffalo Chicken drumsticks, and even desserts like brownies, Okieco's banana pudding and strawberry cheesecake 'shooters' for a bite-sized treat.

What's a cafe hangout without stopping by somewhere to get coffee afterwards? At Arabica, the menu might be simple with mainly Espresso, Macchiato, Caffe Latte and Americano but one sip and you can possibly taste the depth and richness of the coffee ? Even if you're not a coffee drinker, you can have their other drinks like Matcha Latte and Lemonade. Plus, its aesthetic interior should be enough to lure you in! With its white tabletops and sleek coffee machines, everything about % Arabica screams hipster. Not to mention that their signature "%" sign is printed everywhere from their cups to coffee machines and even their mats - it's tastefully decorated and perfect for the 'gram ?

5. Rumi The Poets Cup

Rumi The Poets Cup has been a popular sight at Ramadan bazaars in the last few years, and they finally set up a brick-and-mortar store in Kampong Glam in October 2020! ? Now you can pop by their outlet along Bussorah Street and pick up a cup of their signature iced tea and coffee, or the Exclusive Rumi Ice Blended series in flavours like Butterscotch, Ondeh-Ondeh, Hazel Roche and Strawberry ? The menu also includes new items like fruit-inspired mocktails and the literary-inspired 'Frizantea' selection made with brewed tea and sparkling water.

Better yet, let your friends know it's time for a rooftop dinner plan! This eatery is actually located on the second level of The Straits Teppanyaki, making it a beautiful location as a rooftop hangout cafe. On top of opening a physical store, the owners of Rumi The Poets Cup have also opened a dine-in teppanyaki and rooftop halal 'bar' located on the 2ndfloor of the same building! The Straits Teppanyaki offers both Asian and Western-style dishes like The Straits Salmon Fillet, crunchy chicken skin, or halal wagyu beef grilled on a Japanese teppanyaki-style hotplate. ? Opened by the same team behind Insta-worthy eatery The Malayan Council, The Fortune Cookie's menu is a mix of halal Chinese food and Asian or local fusion delights.
