Who are the most influential people in the world?

There are lots of versions when it comes to deciding who are the most influential people in the world. However, TIME's annual list of the 100 most influential people is a list that many people looking forward to.

An appearance on the list is considered as an honor, let alone the impact that the person made to put him/her on the list. This year, TIME 100 is back with a bunch of inspiring people, and some of them are the Muslims who bring impact to the world we are living in.

Nasrin Sotoudeh

The Iranian lawyer has been fighting to restore women's rights for years. She has been imprisoned many times because of her work, including 38 years sentence in 2019. However, she never stops doing her work. Last year, she made international headlines for hunger strikes that demand to release of political prisoners.

Muna El Kurd & Mohammed El Kurd

These twin siblings are Palestinian activists and writers from Sheikh Jarrah. They have been speaking out against Israeli occupation in Sheikh Jarrah which led to their detain by the Israeli police on 6 June 2021. They were later released on the same day and remain vocal to spread awareness of the Sheikh Jarrah eviction is social media.

Adi Utarini

Utarini is working with an international team from the World Mosquito Program to curb the threat of dengue fever. To do her work, she managed to earn the trust of the local community to release swarms of mosquitoes around their neighborhood in Yogyakarta. Her groundbreaking work paved the way to press the disease rates in community settings.

Not only the activist and scientists but there are also Muslim world leaders on the list. These leaders are known for their standpoint (and controversy) that makes them stand out among the world leaders.

Nayib Bukele

Bukele was born in a Palestinian immigrant family and is known for his entrepreneurship skill since a young age. His millennial leadership marked a new era since the civil war in Salvador ended in 1992. According to the local media, Bukele owns the distribution chain for a prominent world motorcycle brand in El Salvador, hence his street rider style during his presidential campaign.

Ebrahim Raisi

Also known as Sayyid Ebrahim Raisolsadati, the conservative Islamist is the eighth and current president of Iran that inaugurated on 3 August 2021. With experiences in several positions in Iran's judicial system, Raisi won his second presidential term with more than 60 percent of the votes.

The Afghan political and religious leader is the co-founder of the Taliban and currently acting as the first deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
