623-1 Higashikatamachi, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, 604-8183, Japan
The Cultural Museum has multiple floors of great exhibitions - we saw the Silk Road one with two floors of artifacts from all along the route with amazing views.
The museum was amazing our tour guide was amazing and went above and beyond helping us understand the vast cultural history of Kyoto!
Great historical exhibits but limited English so keep phones charged to use a translator app! Ample food and cafe and souvenir shops! Multi street access and connected to another museum. Can take photos in some areas, speak to the attendants to see where specifically.
The Museum of Kyoto is a very interesting museum, while particularly small, it has a constant flux of interesting exhibitions. While the unchanging exhibitions mainly talk about the historical Kyoto. I find their temporary exhibition s to be the most interesting part of the museum. They present nuanced historical themes with a modern light; I've been to both the Washoku exhibition and the Youkai exhibition, and they were interesting. Feel free to go if you have time.
