We tried this restaurant as we were curious about the concept of a bookstore serving food and I am so glad we did it! The food was really tasty and we had the vegan lunch set which comes with a delicious plate plus a drink of choice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really cozy, there are not so many tables and customers were coming in the whole time which made me think this is a pretty popular spot. The staff is super nice, welcomes you with a smile and the service was definitely quick. Overall I can just fully recommend it!

Nice ambience, surrounded by books and small grocery area concept. The veg organic and help our friend to get a quick fix of chilli craving. Lol We enjoyed our chill time there with tea and snacks. Western/local/Taiwanese. A little bit of miscommunication as missed out one of the drinks order but was quickly served! Awesome!

Amazing, flavourful food (includes soup and drink) with seasonal ingredients and information about them and cooking method. Probably the best meal I have had in a so-far 2 week trip.

I happened by this gem while casually exploring the area near my hotel in Kyoto. It's in an upscale mall right above the metro station, so easy if you're not in the neighborhood. They only serve lunch Friday-Monday from 11a to 3p. It was Monday about 2 and I decided to eat. The set lunch was creative, delicious, and 100% vegan! They had my meal out quickly, and if the turnip and Japanese leek was not fried to order, I could not tell. I would have preferred larger portions of the soybean hummus, winter root vegetables stewed in almond milk, and the potatoe, sweet potato and mushroom marinade. Even so, I was very content with the meal. The douhua dessert (silken tofu with toppings) provided all the protein needed to make my meal complete. The combination bookstore, farm to market grocery, and occasional eatery works well here. They play soft jazz in the background and have English menus ready.

What a great little vegetarian find in Kyoto. We ordered the vegan plate with dessert. What an amazing imagination the chef has. It was delicious. I definitely recommend this sweet little cafe.
