Great way to escape the busy streets but still enjoy the core of Japanese culture. For a small price it is a must visit for anyone interested in classical, historical and traditional Japanese craftsmanship and architecture. Beautiful spaces and corridors. The garden is nice, quite and peaceful. Some of the exterior is under construction but it does not effect the experience. Probably makes it more of a hidden gem, for know, with fewer people. At noon there where only a handful of guest walking around. Worth every penny.

Back to when i was in Kyoto, there's this huge park called Maruyama Park that is amazingly beautiful. Anyway we skip that part for now ??. I ended up walking to this building that apparently a Buddhist temple, Sorenin Monzeki. Fee entrance was about AUD6 inside was so pretty and peaceful, there's a verandah that you can just sit and quietly admiring the garden. It was on construction so not 100% peaceful but still, everyone was quiet which is awesome. I walked around both the garden and building, they don't really have lots of signs that explain which is which but they did give me some brochures about this temple

Beautiful garden to meander around and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. ? Less crowded than other temples in Kyoto making it a more peaceful experience.

A hidden gem in Higashiyama! This temple is perfect if you want to avoid crowds. It’s a big traditional japanese mansion and you can explore the rooms quite freely. The garden is breathtaking and the altars are perfect for meditation. I could spend the whole day there!

One of the most beautiful and serene temples I've been to in Kyoto so far. Would highly recommend!!
