I went to the special exhibition that was there, which was the Gucci show. It was very well attended by locals. It was a bit of a inconsistent chronology of Gucci’s career, which was disappointing. However, the collection was divided up into 5 sections which helped to interpret his concept for artistic ideas. The museum itself looked beautiful and I wish I could’ve spent more time, but I didn’t. The museum‘s worth going back and seeing the rest of the collection.

We went to see the Claude Monet exhibition which was really stunning. So much to offer and so much to see. We also walked around the lovely grounds and pond behind the museum which had wisteria and fish. A really peaceful place and clearly hosting serious exhibitions and serious artwork. Would love to come back and highly recommend it as an activity with family or friends or couples.

Was at the museum for Yoyai Kusama's exhibition and also Monet. Thanks to the poster all over Kyoto or I would have missed it and only known Kusama for her pumpkins.

Visited the Monet exhibition, which was well assembled and detailed. I suggest getting the audio guide. Also don't forget to go outside and look at the garden afterwards, while small, it's very beautiful.

"You must know I'm entirely absorbed in my work. These landscapes of water and reflections have become an obsession. It's quite beyond my powers at my age, and yet I want to succeed in expressing what I feel. I've destroyed some... I start others... and I hope that something will come out of so much effort" ---Claude Monet wrote to his friend Gustave Geffroy in 1908
