What is Singapore travel bubble?

Travel bubbles or travel corridors are an exclusive partnership between two or more countries that managed to control the spread of Covid-19. These countries established connections that make their citizen easier to enter the country, such as the absence of mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

Singapore to launch its first vaccinated travel lanes (VTL)

As part of Singapore's reopening of borders, the country will be launching quarantine-free travel from 8 September 2021. One of the countries that confirmed the VTL is Germany. You can find all the details on the Singapore-Germany travel lane on this page.

Another country that is also ready to run the two-ways travel with Singapore is Brunei. Under the VTL, fully vaccinated travellers departing from Brunei can enter Singapore without having to undergo a stay-home notice, and so the opposite.

It's important to note that someone is considered fully vaccinated after two weeks of the second jab of the Covid-19 vaccine. The Covid-19 that used must be those that are listed under the WHO emergency use list, including Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac.

Free-quarantine travel

Travellers won't be quarantined upon their arrival. Instead, these travellers must take multiple Covid-19 PCR tests.

The first one should be taken 48 hours before departure, the second one is upon arrival at Changi Airport, and two post-arrival tests on the third and seventh day of their stay.

The best thing about this Singapore-Brunei travel lane is that it's open to all travellers with all purposes, including business, family visits, and even leisure!

Unfortunately, children under the age of 12 (that cannot be vaccinated yet) are excluded from this travel lane.

Terms and conditions

Travellers must fly with designated direct flights that are prepared to serve the travellers in this travel lane. Singapore Airlines and Royal Brunei Airlines will run these flights and had prepared three flights every week.

They also must remain in Brunei for 21 consecutive days before their flight to Singapore. Once they arrived, downloading and using the Singapore contact tracing mobile app is mandatory.

Singapore opens up to more countries

Besides Germany and Brunei, Singapore also opening up for travellers from Hong Kong and Macao. Starting from 26 August, travellers from these regions can apply for an air travel pass to enter Singapore, regardless of their vaccination status.
