Desa Sri Hartamas is best known as a foodie area where you can everything and anything from local dishes to Western to Japanese and everything in between. Well, if you're a Wagyu lover, then Kin Gyu is your portal to paradise. The location might be a bit hidden - look for the golden bull and take the stairs up to level 1 and slide open the wooden door. The restaurant serves halal-certified Wagyu and they don't use alcohol in the dishes, so you can eat without worrying!

Kin Gyu menu

This exciting Japanese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur is all set to delight you with a spectacular menu! There are close to 100 mouthwatering Wagyu options, from succulent steaks to hearty stews, delightful sliders, and even the freshest beef sashimi and sushi! And let's not forget about the scrumptious hamburg and hot pots.

If you're looking for light bites, the wagyu sushi and hand-rolled sushi are for you! Try the Sea Urchin Wagyu Roll, Roast Beef sushi, and be sure to ask for the day's premium cut sushi. You won't regret it!

Kin Gyu omakase

If you want to try them all (or simply indecisive and not sure what to order), we highly recommend getting the omakase! For the best experience, get the Premium Wagyu Omakase (RM220 per person) that comes with: clam clear soup, 3 kinds of appetiser, watercress and arugula salad, urchin chawan mushi, shredded French fries, Wagyu tempura hand-rolled sushi, roasted premium sirloin sushi, 4 types of omakase premium steak, grilled wagyu pot rice and finish off with black sesame ice cream.

We recommend taking your time with the dishes so you can truly enjoy them! You'll start off your meal with the clam clear soup - perfect to clear your palate for the beef-heavy meal! We also loved the refreshing salad, the sweet and salty urchin chawan mushi and the hand-rolled sushi. The shredded French fry stayed crispy until the end of our meal, some 2 hours later!

You'll also get a hot lava stone to grill the premium steaks DIY-style. Since the slices are thin, grilling only takes about 5-10 seconds (depending on your doneness preference).

The grilled wagyu pot rice is also a hit. There are 3 levels of enjoying the rice - first, try the rice and wagyu pieces on their own. Then, try with the toppings - green onions, sesame and Japanese pepper. It adds an extra layer of flavour! Lastly, add the soup to finish it all off. Yum!

As for the roasted premium sirloin sushi, the staff will torch the sirloin piece right in front of you! 10/10 for presentation. It didn't disappoint though, the sirloin literally melts in your mouth!
