Blk 79 Circuit Rd, #01-54 behind bus stop, Singapore 370079
Tried the signature beef noodle ($8.00). Fortunately, there wasn't a queue and I got my order within 5 minutes. The soup was the star component, being flavourful and gave the authentic Thai sense. The generous serving of fried garlic bits added the nice burst of garlicky flavour with a crunch. The noodle were well soaked with the soup flavour. The Thai chilli flakes added the nice spicy dimension to the soup. The serving of beef chunks, sliced beef and handmade beef ball were fairly proportional to the price point. Although the pink in the beef were visible, the meats were slightly over-cooked in my opinion. Nevertheless, the meats were still decently cooked. The chilli sauce slightly elevated the taste without being too spicy. Overall, I think the soup would a reason for me to return, especially on a rainy day. I would have been willing to queue for 5-10 minutes.
It was a long wait over time, and overdue, to sample the much lauded halal Thai Beef Noodles by Omar which I had egged my wife I really wanted to try. Many times I popped over it's either closed or simply that the Circuit Road food centre is almost deserted. It can't just be the wrong hours I went since I'd tried for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to no avail. Until today. It's like we finally struck the food lottery. I had to try their Omar's Signature Thai Beef Noodles special, which received rave overall reviews from food bloggers online. And I must say it was worth the anticipatory wait. The rich broth is the first I sipped to savour and promptly fell in love with. I love aromatic dark meaty spiced broth and theirs is a flavour bomb of such delightful depth of sweet sour complex deliciousness in a bowl and yet it is light enough to literally drink up the soup. Generous with their beef, the mouthwatering noodles on a cold scattering rainy day like this in unique Singapore at the year end is just sublime and hits the right spot. We also tried the Basil Chicken rice although we were tempted to try the interestingly named Ladyboy set. We love their basil chicken. While usually the Thai original is a beautiful clash of punch and spice theirs is delightfully milder - although the lovely kind lady who made it said they can accommodate to your spice tolerance - but has enough wonderful authentic taste that it makes for a pleasant meal from the generous serving. We ended up tapao'ing for the kids too. And the lovely couple - my assumption - who took care of our order were not only quietly accommodative but were such lovely people. I love that. Suffice to say if you can get there from Sat to Thu between the hours of 12 to 8pm till sell out (which can be quite fast) then you're in for a wonderful soulfood treat.
Best walk down memory lane in a nostalgic part of Singapore which is circuit rd! Used to cycle down to this place to eat my lunch after teaching tuition. This place serves really gd beef noodles & it is well worth its $8 price. It's got plenty of lean beef & beef balls & alot of vege, all soaked in yummy beef soup. It's a tad thicker gravy than the Thaksin beef noodles. Everything is served up pretty fast & neatly placed on the tray for collection. The stall holders are polite & friendly & dont 4get to praise their food if u love it! They would beam widely w pride. Love the good food & love the cold almond honey soya milk that's opposite to this stall. Pls check their IG for opening hrs & closely follow it to track if this place is open & servinggg!
