Joined the throng of customers for some post lunch dessert. The taufufa is good and silky smooth. A bit too sweet hence should have requested for less sugar syrup. Atmosphere is busy and do expect a queue as well as visitors taking photos etc.
I always grab these taufufa to-go whenever we stop by gerbang malam. By far, this is the best taufufa in Ipoh—I can see why there’s always a long queue! If you’re in town, especially near the Pekan area, you should definitely give it a try. And the waiting time isn't really that long, even if its long queue Normally, I would also get the taufufa kosong for when I get home, I would have it with gula apong. It really pairs well with each other ? They also sell soy drinks, which are super refreshing on a hot day. I’d recommend getting the soy drink with cincau, real great combo ?
As long as you are not there when there's a crowd, its not bad. U get your bowl of tau fu far and a bottle of soya if you want and you go consume it by the side of the road. New downtown also has a whole of the same biscuit places as in old downtown but we did manage to score some really good kaya puffs right out of the oven.
Edit: ok I'm updating from 4 star to 5 star and adding this place to my favourites. Still not life changing however after sampling many other tau fu fah and air soya during this trip to Malaysia I can say this was always the best one and the standard I held all others to. Each time I visited another vendor or market I get a watery and thin soya product and I wish I had the funny mountain one instead. Original review: 3myr tau fu fah (soybean pudding) and 3myr for air soya (soya milk drink). Eat in, take away or order via your car. Good pricing, good quality. Not a life-changing snack however I would recommend it and go back multiple times. Served quickly and the staff are helpful. Next time I would like to try the pandan sugar syrup instead. Silky and soft tau fu fah, a tad too sweet for me but I prefer savoury meals in general. Not life changing but it was satisfying. The soy milk drink is delicious and refreshing. A tad sweet, not sure if they add sugar syrup to it or that's the natural taste? We visited again the following day for another snack and refreshing drink.
Went during weekdays, got a number of crowds. Food was good. You can request for more sugar to add if needed.
