6A The Terrace, Fremantle WA 6160, Australia
Had a great stay at this hostel. Sometimes, you meet someone without saying much, but their presence still makes an impression. I’ll always remember the brief moments we shared. Wishing you all the best on your travels, and who knows, maybe our paths will cross again one day.
By far the best hostel in Perth that I’ve stayed at, Perth has a pretty low bar on hostel standards as most of them are pure dog sh*t. But this one is nice, it’s clean, aircon in the room and the kitchen area is big. It’s not that social but if you’re a social person you can make some good friends, you’ll just have to give a bit more effort. And staying in a old prison is pretty cool non the less Will be back
The room is clean and comes with a private toilet—very convenient. The service is excellent! Everyone greets you with a natural smile and a warm welcome. The location is amazing—right next to Fremantle Prison, a World Heritage-listed site. It’s also close to shops, supermarkets, local dining, and the beach! YHA has always been my go-to for budget-friendly and convenient accommodation across Australia. Highly recommended for solo travellers looking to connect with international friends
A really original and surprisingly comfortable stay! Sleeping in a former prison was definitely a unique experience – clean rooms, great facilities, and a touch of history that made it special. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the fun, relaxed atmosphere. Not the most luxurious place, of course, but for the price and the experience, it’s well worth it!
Such a cool place to stay! The vibe was really relaxed and social, and I was especially happy with the kitchen and common areas — super clean, spacious, and great for meeting other travellers. However, there just weren’t enough bathrooms for the number of guests. It got a bit frustrating having to wait during peak times, especially in the mornings. The morning of my flight I didn’t even get to use a bathroom, the wait was so long. Definitely something to be aware of if you’re on a schedule. The rooms were fine, quite clean but felt a bit soulless - quite bare with peeling paint - and not enough plug sockets. Overall, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a cool, social place with great shared spaces — just be prepared for a wait at the bathrooms and don’t expect anything a cozy room.
