52 Leyn Baan St, Galle 80000, Sri Lanka
We spent three days in Galle as a stopover before the last leg of our journey spent on the beach. We are so glad we did. We initially thought we would stay at the Fort Printers because it looked luxurious, but later decided to stay at Le Jardin du Fort, because it also looked very nice and was not as prohibitively expensive. After arriving in Galle, getting settled in at The Jardin, and exploring the town, we went into the Printers to have a peek at the menu, and as human nature often dictates, to see if we were missing out. We weren't missing a thing. Both places are very nice, but Le Jardin has huge amounts of character and charm whereas The Printers feels like it's mimicking trendy establishments that seek a wealthy clientele seeking an upmarket and “cool” experience. Le Jardin had all the amenities we needed including a very comfortable bed in an ample, well air conditioned room. The bathroom was also a good size with a great shower. The cafe had great coffee, croissants, and fresh fruit for breakfast. We used the dining room constantly as a home base for reading, writing postcards, and rehydrating with cold beer and lime sodas (our new favorite drink). It's a lovely cafe with yellow stucco walls, large ceiling fans, and a wall decorated with large marionettes. The general manager Dimuthu and his team all were friendly and welcoming. They all went out of their way to making our experience great including extras for our honeymoon and helping us book great transportation for our next leg. Thank you to the whole team for looking after us so well and special thank you to Sanjaya for always keeping our glasses full! If we ever return to Galle, we will stay here again without hesitation!
We were a little hesitant when we reached. As this hotel was booked by our travel agent we didn’t know what to expect and was taken aback by the different vibes this hotel has as compared to what we were used to. However, once we settled down this little intimate place starts to grow on us. We had the duplex loft with a spacious bed and 2 other twin beds. Everything was very clean and tables were not dusty despite there being so many Knick knacks in the room. Towels also smell fresh and clean. There was music coming from the restaurant downstairs and we were afraid it would mean a disturbed sleep, but they are mindful to turn the music down at 9pm and close at 10pm. We had one of the best sleeps in our trip. Very quiet and serene. Everyone including staff and other customers were also polite and not loud. It’s located at a side street, very close to the sea but yet far enough to be away from the crowds. The restaurant food was also very good! Pity we stayed only 1 night before flying back to Singapore. Would recommend this little place!
We spent a weekend in this hotel. Superb service. Tasty breakfast. We had a wonderful time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and cozy. I would visit again for sure ❤️.
Our stay at Le jardin was pleasant and comfortable. The rooms are small but we'll maintained. May need a little bit more ventilation but otherwise the stay was very comfortable! The staff was courteous and helpful right from our check in process. They make the place great! We'll definitely come back :)
I am currently staying here. I wanted to give more than a five star, but there is no option! The first thing about this property is they are honest about their facilities! The service of the staff is out if the world! The location is very convenient. And they have kept the antique touch of this house. Too bad I am only staying for a night here!
