630 Takahashicho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, 600-8096, Japan
We really loved Kyoto and on a mates recommendation we visited the HNPK. We were met with a grand foyer, and exceptional customer service from kind staff - replicating service standards from 5 star hotels in the 80-90’s. The charm of the hotel isn’t just in its customer service, but the tasteful appointment of in-room comforts. Large spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower, full sized cupboard, ample space to lay out suitcases and shopping, generous room and seating options for two or more. Space is a luxury and rarity in Japan! While some features do look outdated and could be modernized, we realised that this is partly the hotels charm and is consistent with what it is offering. We loved our stay, and wish this hotel could be replicated in other cities across Japan. Thank you for a restful stay.
Great value for money as one of the biggest and luxuriously appointed room we stayed in Japan (Sapporo, Fukuoka. Hiroshima, Kobe, Shinjuku, Ginza…). First off the service was great and old fashioned Japanese service-polite and efficient. Managed to communicate with staff even if we didn’t speak Japanese (Nihongo). We must have been upgraded to the executive corner room on the 15th floor. Location is close to the Shijo station and a 900 yen taxi ride from Kyoto station (but the taxi back to Kyoto station costs us double! See photo of the plate number of the taxi - monitoring the trip via google map the driver took us to the side street vice the main street (to read slow) & plenty of stops). The room was well appointed, spacious, had great city views on both windows. The Japanese style bathroom was spacious as well with extra supply of beauty kits, creams, facial masks, bath salts, etc. Coffee pods & tea facilities as well as bottled water. The well stocked bar fridge was complimentary and enjoyed the half bottle wine, especially the yuzu flavoured wine. Usual bath tones and pyjamas. Special touch are the pieces of origami. Did not ate in the hotel restaurants as we booked several restaurants in Kyoto. Location is in a quiet neighbourhood.
Stayed here for 4 nights. Location was FANTASTIC - 4 mins walk from Shijo Station and 7 mins from Karasuma station. Staff were friendly, warm and super helpful. Rooms definitely larger than standard hotel room in Japan. Good amount of restaurants within 5 to 8 mins walk. Gion District is 10 mins bus away, so is Pontocho Park and those amazing lanes. Special mention to Takada! Thank you for your warm greeting.
