Great location, was able to walk to as well as the shopping areas. Right on the little creek and has cherry blossom trees lining the street which is beautiful during the blooming season. Rooms are spacious and nice. I like that they have a lounge area with free drinks and snacks that you can hang out at. Decent view from the rooms, and they have a gym though I didn’t use it. Like most hotels in Japan, they provide slippers and pajamas as well as toiletries. And I was glad they provide lotion as well. They let us drop off our bags before we could check in, and they even delivered it to our rooms before we came back and even hung up our coats in the closet!
Stayed at The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa by Hulic and was very impressed. Excellent central location — quiet street but close to shops, restaurants, train stations, and bus stops. Many attractions are within walking distance. Quick and smooth check-in. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. The room was spacious (by Japanese standards), clean, with a very comfortable bed and a Nespresso machine. Room service was great — fast and professional. Breakfast was simple but very tasty and satisfying even over several days. The rooftop bar offers beautiful views of Kyoto. The hotel has a stylish mix of modern design and traditional elements. Excellent value for money — highly recommended!
The hotel room wasn’t bad, but was a little tight. The bathroom and bathtub situation specifically. It was lacking the amenities we had at other hotels during our stay, but the location was excellent! We were able to walk to dinner, see a show, grab coffee and get some drinks at a bar nearby with ease. The staff was very friendly, the check in was easy and everyone we interacted with were attentive. I would recommend if you’re looking for a great location and clean rooms!
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. They offer great amenities like a lounge with complimentary refreshments and wine. Convenient location, plus laundry service and umbrellas to use during our stay. The Japanese breakfast was super impressive.
My partner and I had an incredible stay at The Gate Hotel in Kyoto. It felt like a five-star experience from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautifully designed with a luxurious, modern feel, and our room was both spacious and impeccably styled. It struck the perfect balance between comfort and elegance. The location is another major highlight. It’s in a prime spot, within easy walking distance to downtown Kyoto and Gion, and a nearby train station that made accessing major tourist sites very convenient. Whether we were heading out for sightseeing or just exploring locally, everything was right at our doorstep. One of our favorite features was the hotel bar and restaurant. The atmosphere was sophisticated, and the balcony area offers a stunning view of Kyoto. It was the perfect place to have a drink and unwind in the evenings. Overall, our stay exceeded expectations. The Gate Hotel in Kyoto felt every bit like a five-star property, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others visiting Kyoto!
