Came here for afternoon tea as it caters to late timing and allow us to wind down after the end of a semester. The buffet spread is substantial for a 1.5 hour dine in duration. There were some hits and misses, and our favourite was the noodles live section and the chicken platters. Kudos to the service staff for accomodating diner's request and their cheeky personality that made our day. Date of visit: May 2022

Finally came back to dine at StraitsKitchen again following a fairly long renovation hiatus. StraitsKitchen has definitely maintained, if not even improved, the standards and quality in their food. Their asian-centric array of dishes covers Indian, Chinese, Malay, Indonesian and recently (due to Ramadan) Middle Eastern even. Their dishes were all fantastic - well-seasoned, bursting in flavour and grilled/steamed well. I especially love their Chicken/Duck Rice station, as well as the satay. Their Indian section has long been my favourite by far - the butter chicken is thick and fragrant, tandoori chicken grilled well, and naan well buttered and soft. Their middle eastern dips were very nice, but perhaps the pita breads provided could have been a bit softer. Drink spread had a wide variety, especially their hot drinks. One significant improvement from the last time I visited here (about 2 years ago) is definitely the service. While service here used to be pretty average, the staff were fantastic this time. They made the effort to provide me with the best birthday celebration I could have. Clearing of plates and cups were consistent and effortless. They were clear in their communication and service. I even noticed some of them putting in the effort to walk some guests all the way to the prayer room from the restaurant. Overall, while buffet experiences can vary and are subjective, StraitsKitchen has a solid offering and definitely stands out among the halal buffet scene in Singapore. It definitely helps that the restaurant and hotel prayer roons are beautiful, with clean and ambient aesthetics that provide a cozy experience.

StraitsKitchen Singapore is definitely my top one go to place for a large variety of food of south-east Asian cuisine in Singapore. This restaurant almost entirely focuses on creating the best local dishes with local ingredients that are unique and cannot be found elsewhere. Firstly, the restaurant is located within the Grand Hyatt Singapore in Orchard making it a very convenient place to go to with many public transport stations nearby. The restaurant staff are very attentive and frequently check-in on restaurant guests to collect plates and cater to service requests. As for the atmosphere of the restaurant, the restaurant is modern and clean with a design touch that reflects the cuisine the restaurant focuses on. Lastly, not only is the food very high quality, but there is also a wide selection of different dishes allowing patrons to get a good taste of south-east Asian cuisine. Overall, I strongly recommend trying out StraitsKitchen for a solid meal in Singapore!

Visited Straits Kitchen on a weekend lunch buffet after its long hiatus and reopen in Aug2024. Previously, the restaurant was located on the 2nd level facing the main Scotts road, now they have shifted to level 1 middle. They have many large tables fit for 10-12 and private spaces for celebration. Woody elements, well spaced stations and comfortable seatings. Food was presentable with different serving plates for different stations. Good quality with generous abundance of fresh ingredients. Like the mix salad, chai tau kway, laksa, Indian butter chicken, and deep fried durian. The charcoal bbq chicken wings was over done and quite burnt. The live seafood section offering was small compare to Carousel, but is an Asian theme. There is a 15% less for major cards.

Pretty good halal buffet that has a decent selection and spread, but I think the smaller spread is countered by the quality of the dishes served. There wasn’t a single item I ate that I felt could’ve been better. Good choices of drinks and juices. Their dessert selection is huge too, I highly recommend for gatherings like mine and larger groups celebrations
