My favourite goes to Fried Wu Xiang! ? They are made of yam and peanut, deliciously crunchy! Black Pepper Udon is a little spicy for my liking though. Chicken Cutlet Rice is pretty good actually.
#1st review# This establishment is a small, clean restaurant offering a concise menu. 1. Kangsu kolo mee - features authentic noodles with a right texture, available with or without chilli. Toppings include vegetables, vegetarian goose skin, mock char siu, and minced meat (a flavour profile reminiscent of mock mutton). 2. Wanton soup - offers a flavourful broth and notably smooth wanton skins, filled with the same delicious minced meat. Orders are placed at the counter, with payment accepted via cash or PayNow. Self-collection of food at the counter thereafter. #2nd review# (3 weeks later) The Black Pepper Udon was enjoyable, though I still favour the kolo mee. The dish used high-quality black pepper, resulting in a good fragrance and flavour profile. However, the udon texture was softer than my preference, and the sauce, while flavourful, was somewhat watery.
I'm so glad I randomly decided to step into this vegetarian place. As a vegetarian, it's really hard to find suitable options for me that are yummy and inexpensive, and this place meets both of those things! Not only that, but I find that a lot of vegetarian places tend to overdo the salt/seasoning/sugar/oil because they feel they need to make up for the lack of meat. But this food was perfectly seasoned and also a perfect portion size. The workers were really kind and the food came out quickly. I'll definitely need to visit this place every day until I leave because I want to try everything on the menu!
Good rendering of some local flavoured street foods by this small Vegetarian eatery. Although not exactly the best that i have tasted, the dishes that we have ordered were still considered Good, for the amount that we had paid for. -Kang Su Kolo Mee (Dry) had springy, al dente noodles tossed in a savory aromatic sauce made from soy-based seasonings, topped with tender mock char-siu, crispy fried beancurd skins and fresh scallions. Overall flavour was well-balanced, with hint of sweetness and saltiness. Could be better if smokiness from the mushroom oil were more distinctive. -Ban Mian (Dry) had thick, hand-pulled noodles, coated in rich savory sauce from soy, sesame oil and hint of black vinegar, topped with mock minced meat, crispy shredded deep-fried tofu and fresh scallions. However, noodles could had been more chewy. Overall flavour was balanced, with hint of sweetness and saltiness too. -Chicken Rice, had fluffy rice cooked in a savory blend of ginger and vegetable broth, but lacks fragrant. Its paired with pan-fried Tau-Kee and rounded up the dish that’s hearty and deeply satisfying despite being entirely plant-based. -Fried Chicken Cutlet made from soy-based protein, was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, delivered satisfying crunch with every bite. As the shop was rather small, clampy and had limited seating capacity, its a eat and go kind of place. Thus we were not comfortable enough to enjoy their food, especially after waiting for more than 10 minutes to get our 1st dish.
The location is very easy to find, near where the lift is located. Be mindful, there a kerbside at the store entrance- I nearly tripped myself. I ordered something new that I had never tried before; sweet and sour vegetarian pork rice. Personally, I felt the sweet and sour sauce being drizzled over the sesame rice wasn't a good combination. It made the rice soak up the sauce when it serve while the mock meat on top became dry as i was eating it. What if the sweet and sour sauce was drizzled on the mock meat instead? Wouldn't it taste better that way? I highly recommend to try out other dishes as is super hard to find affordable vegetarian food at orchard area that open till dinner time.
