Visited MTR for brunch and had a decent experience. The food was good overall. We ordered masala dosa, podi dosa, thatte idli, badam milk, and coffee, and there was nothing to complain about. The dough and gravies were fresh, carrying an authentic flavor that stood out. The ambience was clean and pleasant and the service was great the waiters were attentive and respectful. It’s definitely a good spot for big eaters, as the portions were satisfying. However, for certain dishes, we felt the pricing was a bit on the higher side and didn’t fully justify the cost. That said, if you’re looking for authentic South Indian flavors, MTR is worth a visit.
I was impressed with the food. The Rava Idli, Podi Idli, and Benne Masala were all delicious, but the idli stood out the most. It was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. The filter coffee was equally enjoyable. It had aromatic fragrance and a smooth and creamy texture. This restaurant is definitely a must-visit if you are in KL!
Dosa dosa dosa... So much variety and so yummy. Living away from home, I am always looking for the most comforting Dosa and found it in KL here in MTR 1924. Loved and enjoyed every bite. I was never a big fan of Medu Vada but my sister ordered a plate and it was glorious. Served hot but not oily and crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Loved it! We also had the chandrahara for dessert and it was heavenly. The crispy warm batter in thick malai. Not sure if I am doing the dish any justice through my description but definitely worth a try. Also, cannot stress enough how well they go with a good cup of Filter coffee! Got to have it lah... MTR was so low key amazing with its clean interiors and ambience. A place to keep coming whenever I am in KL.
2025 - Used to be my favorite rava tose, but has been deteriorating over the past 3 years. Still tastes rich, but no longer crispy, and the airholes classic of a nicely spread tosai batter are gone. RM 18 for onion rava dosa. Food served fast, and with a smile, and takeaway packaging good.
Top shelf dosas. The best I have had in Kuala Lumpur.. Many great items to try with different items on the menu every day of the week. Most things are fried but nothing is too greasy. Overall, a great choice in Bricksfield off the main road. You get what you pay for - well worth a visit.
