! Part of a local non-profit organisation called Cat Lovers International Society, this sanctuary aims to improve the welfare of the cats in Penang and provide rescued cats with a place to stay and be cared for.
If you're wondering why this sanctuary has a beachside location, that's because the local fishermen have been caring for stray cats for many decades. On top of that, the Penang state government implemented a Zero Strays Policy in 2014 and the sanctuary provides a safe shelter for rescued and homeless strays in Penang. Currently, the Cat Beach Sanctuary is home to over 300 cats and kittens that are looking for their forever homes!
