Autumn is right around the corner, and that means cooler temperatures, relaxing onsen getaways, and indulging in those delicious pumpkin spice lattes (yes, we're basic girlies here at HHWT). But you know what really gets our hearts racing? The absolutely stunning spectacle of autumn leaves! Guess what, folks? It's time to get super excited because the first official fall foliage forecast for Japan is out!

As we bid farewell to summer's warmth and welcome the crisp embrace of autumn, it's the perfect time for all you nature enthusiasts to explore Japan's pristine landscapes. And even if you're not usually one to venture outdoors, trust me, the dazzling shades of red, yellow, and orange leaves will make you want to step outside and soak it all in!

Our trusted source at the Japan Meteorological Corporation has given us a reason to start planning our trip! They've shared not just one, but two delightful projections to light up our days: one that's all about the fiery, passionate red of the Japanese maple leaves (Momiji), and another that shines a bright spotlight on the golden, cheerful hues of the ginkgo leaves. Which one are you excited to see the most?

Ginkgo leaves forecast

The ginkgo leaves are gearing up for a magnificent show, starting in Hokkaido, the northernmost delight of Japan. Get ready to mark your calendars for November 6th when Sapporo will burst into ginkgo brilliance! And that's not all! Tokyo is set to dazzle us with its vibrant ginkgo spectacle around November 25th, thanks to the September 4th prediction. Osaka won't be far behind, hitting its peak on November 24th, and Kyoto promises to charm us with its golden leaves near November 27th.

Momiji leaves forecast

When it comes to momiji, Tokyo is in for a treat with the most beautiful display expected around November 30th. Osaka, not too far behind, will showcase its maple leaves a few days later on December 3rd, and Kyoto will be in full momiji bloom around December 11th. As for our friends in Sapporo, get ready to be dazzled by the red momiji spectacle around November 8th.
