Absolutely lovely (and big!) museum with a wide variety of exhibitions. The shop stocked some delightful items. Would highly recommend. You can get a coffee in the cute truck outside. Thank you!
Amazing experience lots of variety of art, cute shops, also got ticket for the Hilma af Klint exhibit that was wonderful. Highly recommend, and taking a break in the room with a view for a cosy stop.
The place was very conducive, inclusive, and accessible. viewed the Hilma af Klint and the standard exhibits on the day I visited, and audio/content guides were available in various languages for the special exhibit, which was great for non-Japanese speaking individuals like me. The museum was also very accessible via train. Highly recommended especially when there are special exhibits!
Gorgeous. My first modern art museum in Japan, and boy it did not disappoint. The collection felt very well curated, clearly there was so much more they could’ve exhibited, but they actually curated - which is not so usual in these big national museums. Also impressed with how they dealt with some of the more sensitive topics (30s/40s), for a country which sometimes has its challenges on this theme I was impressed. The works of this period were also leaving me stunned. Aside from that section I also loved the rest, impressed throughout.
