I always liked to admire marine life, even though the fish and animals are in captivity. The jellyfish are very relaxing to watch. My favorite, the penguins, were having fun around their enclosure. They swim like professionals and is impossible to take my eyes out off them. Their walk is very clumsy though. Is also a great activity for the kids, if you have any? The entrance fee was 2500¥.

I highly recommend the Sumida Aquarium, located near the Tokyo Skytree. It offers beautiful views and a clean, well-designed layout that makes navigating the aquarium a breeze. While not the largest aquarium, it features a great variety of animals. It's a must-visit for lovers of jellyfish, penguins, and sea lions. A dessert shop inside allows you to enjoy treats while watching the fish and penguins, as there are convenient tables and chairs near their exhibits. I especially appreciated the ample seating available at nearly every exhibit, making it easy to relax and enjoy the underwater world.

this is one of the best aquariums i have ever been to! it is small, but it is beautiful. all the tanks were full of the most wonderful creatures, i had the best time going through each section of the various exhibits. i loved all the different kinds of jellyfish they had. they also had these fun little sand eels that i have never seen before. the penguins are of course adorable as well. i would definitely recommend coming here if you are already at skytree!

It's quite small and expensive compared to other aquariums in Japan and even being an entirely indoor aquarium, it's missing a lot of animals you might expect like rays and tortoises. However, it's very clean and modern. The exhibits are well-taken care of and there's a lot of seating. The combination of the lighting and ambient music really enhance the jellyfish section, it's quite something. There are many unusual animals you might not see in other aquariums, like the tiny eels. Not worth going out of your way to see or putting it special on the itinerary, but if you're already in the area it could be fun checking it out.

Locate on the fifth floor if the skytree. It is a very popular spot for the locals, during my visit I actually feel the majority of visitor are local japanese family or local school visit. It is not an huge aquarium but well-organized and managed. I will take the penguin spot as the major selling point because they are just too adorable! ❤️? The interaction between the staff and the penguin are super interesting to watch and cute. Especially when the penguin try to squeeze and sneak into the staff room and being push back out? I think it is a very good spot to visit if you travel with kids or just want somewhere quite and relaxing to rest(like me). Then this is a good spot to go to in Skytree. No need to buy tickets online on advanced as there is an ticket selling machine after you walk in the door. The machine accept cash and card and provide English and Chinese, so no worry.
