This free exhibition is brilliant for theatre lovers! It’s situated out of the centre of Ubud and has really beautiful, peaceful grounds. It has a very extensive collection of masks and puppets from all over the world. Definitely recommend!

Tucked away from Ubud’s bustling crowds, the House of Mask and Puppets offers a serene and uncrowded experience. The beautifully maintained grounds feature exhibits spread across six or seven traditional buildings, showcasing an impressive collection of masks and puppets. I learned far more about Balinese culture and artistry than anticipated and left pleasantly surprised by the depth of the displays. This hidden gem is a must-visit for a tranquil, enriching outing.

This is an amazing and extensive display of masks and puppets from throughout Indonesia and other parts of Asia They are housed in seven 100+ year old wooden homes brought here from Java. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. I thoroughly recommend spending a couple of hours or more here seeing the art and enjoying the peaceful ambience.
