Beautiful flower garden only downside is that it's 1,200 yen for entry for a relatively small garden. It was raining so maybe that's why, but it was entirely empty so it was really peaceful break from tourist crowds. Very ambient and quiet. There's a cafe inside that had some nice cakes and drinks too.
This garden was such a pleasant surprise after our hike up mount Hiei. The flowers were beautiful and we enjoyed looking at the paintings too. If you don’t want to hike, there’s a cable car which you can take up the mountain. Even though it is a bit out of Kyoto city centre, it is definitely worth the visit.
This garden is located on top of Mt.Hiei, and you can reach it either by riding the 2 cable cars (¥900 one-way set ticket) or via bus from Enryaku-ji. I dropped by here before visiting Enryaku-ji, and unfortunately, it rained that time. I wasn't able to view the magnificent cityscapes of Kyoto and Lake Biwa because of the thick fog caused by the rain. Even though the weather is not good, there are an abundance of things that you could do here aside from the gorgeous flowers and paintings around the area. They have a relaxing cafe, an interesting museum above it, as well as the lovely souvenir shop. If you're planning on going here, I suggest checking if the weather is good to enjoy the view and place without being hassled.
Beautiful garden paired with great view and prints of Monet. The latter really enhances the experience of the incredible vista around Mt. Hiei, and I highly recommend first time visitors just pay the entry fee because it is such a great experience overall.
Beautiful place. I chose a bad time to go, it was windy and pouring with rain, but it was still nice.
