Amazing experience, definitely worth a visit! It is easily accessible by cable cars in case you are not into hiking, but the hiking path alongside the glacier is recommended.

Magic. Uou can get from the car parking by cable train, it cost ~50chf both ways per adult. Then you have another cable train to go to the top for 24chf one way (return they suggest to come back on foot 1.5h) We went the second part on foot both ways. Amazing views, take more wather as the hike is not flat and you will be exposed in the sun. When you are in the top i recomend to have a trekking on a trail that is parrarel to the glacier to enjoy the view. Very good experience and enjoy it while it lasts, as its melting rapidly.

Europes longest glacier which is 23 km long, stretching down in the valleys in jungfaru region in Swiss Alps. Can get a fantastic view of this from Sphinx observatory and the platue during jungfarioch excursion. However, the glacier has largely deteriorated over the years since 1850. It can be seen from the pictures displayed in the Grindelwald Terminal station.

Stretching over 23 km in length, there is a variety of hiking trails for exploring the largest glacier in the Alps: 1. Aletsch Panorama Trail - Difficulty: Moderate - Distance: 12 km one way - Duration: 4-5 hours Starting at Bettmerhorn or Moosfluh, this trail offers panoramic views of the Aletsch Glacier. The trail meanders through alpine meadows and offers spectacular vistas of the glacier and surrounding peaks. It’s well-marked and suitable for hikers with a moderate level of fitness. 2. Great Aletsch Glacier Hike - Difficulty: Challenging - Distance: 18 km one way - Duration: 6-8 hours This hike starts from Jungfraujoch and descends along the length of the Aletsch Glacier to Märjelensee and Fiescheralp. It’s a demanding trail that requires good physical condition and experience in glacier hiking. Guided tours are recommended for safety. 3. Eggishorn Trail - Difficulty: Moderate - Distance: 8 km round trip - Duration: 3-4 hours Starting from Fiescheralp, this trail ascends to the Eggishorn, providing one of the best viewpoints over the Aletsch Glacier. The hike offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the glacier, the Matterhorn, and the Weisshorn. 4. Bettmerhorn to Riederalp Trail - Difficulty: Moderate - Distance: 10 km one way - Duration: 3-4 hours This scenic trail connects Bettmerhorn to Riederalp, following the ridgeline with continuous views of the Aletsch Glacier. The route is relatively gentle and offers numerous spots to stop and admire the glacier. 5. Märjelensee Loop - Difficulty: Easy to Moderate - Distance: 5 km loop - Duration: 2-3 hours Starting from Fiescheralp, this loop trail leads to Märjelensee, a picturesque alpine lake near the glacier. The trail provides close-up views of the Aletsch Glacier’s snout and is suitable for families and less experienced hikers. Guided Glacier Tours: Explore the glacier safely with a professional guide who can lead you through crevasses and ice formations, providing insights into the glacier's history and dynamics.

Gorgeous. Took 7.5 miles round trip, definitely a challenging last 0.5, there are painted trail markers but there was a lot of rock scramble and a river you have to cross (at least in July), but it is doable! The glacier is stunning. It took 2 hours and 48 minutes total to get there and back from Fiescheralp. We did the route to go touch the glacier.
