5123 W Swan Rd, West Swan WA 6055, Australia
We popped into the Swan Valley outpost of the Margaret River Chocolate Company for a spot of lunch and ended up pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The setting has a nice, relaxed feel — welcoming staff, clean facilities, and a laid-back café space that doesn’t feel rushed. For lunch, my father-in-law and I had toasted sandwiches, while my wife and mother-in-law went for the vegetable frittatas with a side salad. All the meals were well prepared, nicely portioned, and served promptly. Nothing overly fancy, but fresh and tasty — ideal for a casual midday bite. After lunch, we took a wander through the main chocolate showroom. There were plenty of samples to try (a nice touch) and we picked up some bits to take away. The chocolate is clearly good quality, with a mix of Singaporean and Australian-grown cocoa beans. Personally, I lean toward darker varieties — 70% and up — but the strongest option here was 56% dark, which still had a decent flavour and smooth finish, just on the sweeter side for my preference. Next door is a more refined shop focused on gourmet products — preserves, sauces, liqueurs and more. The sampling continued, which made it even more fun to explore. The lemon curd was sharp and tart, just the way it should be. The passionfruit curd, on the other hand, was very sweet — probably a bit much for some tastes, but still enjoyable in small amounts. The standout was a Shiraz grape-style balsamic sauce — thick, sweet, and packed with flavour. Definitely something I’d pick up again. All in all, a great little stop in the Swan Valley. A relaxed lunch, high-quality produce, and plenty of sweet and savoury flavours to sample and enjoy.
Very pleasant chocolate experience... Fairly priced and unique flavours. Chocolate lovers will love this place. And don't forget the free choco-chip testers...
We took family that visited Perth for the first time here. Due to time constraints we didn’t get to take them to Margaret River, but we took them to this chocolate factory, which was amazing for them. There are chocolate buds for tasting, they are melt in your mouth chocolate buds- so yummy! I underrated it at first, but once you start you can’t stop. They have single artisan chocolates for sale and also ice cream, which was a hit for the kids. They have tables so if you wanted to have some coffee, you can grab a table to sit and chill, while others shop for chocolates ^_* It was great as my family bought some chocolates for gifts back home.
