A mountain retreat can almost be as relaxing as an island vacation. Fortunately, Malaysia offers both and more! Kinabalu Pine Resort is a multi-award-winning and privately run accommodation located in Kundasang, Ranau. It is also conveniently near the Kinabalu National Park, where nature and wildlife are abundant, adding to its peaceful woodland atmosphere.

The resort has a cabin-style living, with each cabin having wide open porches that face directly towards Mount Kinabalu and allowing for a spectacular view of the highlands (and privacy). ? If you're a fan of architecture, you'll appreciate the attention to the detail this place prides itself on. Unlike other resorts in the area, Kinabalu Pine Resort cabins are all built using Selangan Batu (or Balau) hardwood - a type of timber classified in Malaysia as highly durable and resistant to the cold and damp climate up in the mountains.

You can choose from the Standard, Deluxe, Superior Standard and Superior Deluxe cabins. Each room is decorated similarly - simple and welcoming. While there aren't many features within the confinements of the room, there is much to boast about in the scenery aspect. ?The Superior Standard and Superior Deluxe rooms are spacious and include a sitting area suitable for families with children. The two rooms also have a private balcony each and are said to have the best view of the mountain!

? If you bring the kids along, they’ll be thoroughly entertained by the playground and mini petting farm within the resort where they can feed and pet rabbits!

Kinabalu Pine Resort is less than a kilometre from the centre of Kundasang, making it convenient for you to visit the town to shop, explore and dine. But for dining at the resort, head to The Pines Restaurant and choose from a local, Western or Chinese menu. ? And you can even order a steamboat dinner to enjoy on cool, windy nights. The best part about dining at the resort is that the restaurant is Halal-certified!

So if you're looking for a vacation high up in the mountains, you should consider visiting Kinabalu Pine Resort, where you can snuggle up with your loved ones in the cabin and wake up to nature right by your door!
