Passed by this beautiful architecture ~Malabar Mosque, and I was attracted by the write up on banner: “Welcome to the month of mercy, forgiveness & blessings ~a limited number of days, the best day of the year are within our reach.” It reminded me of my yearly fasting (non-religious, purely a form of detoxification). Malabar Mosque is an Indian Mosque situated at the corner between Victoria Street & Jalan Sultan (nearest MRT: Bugis). It was established in 1927, registered in 1929 and functioned from a shop house at Changi Road. The Malabar Muslim Jama-ath’s office shifted to Bussorah Street and finally established at 471, Victoria Street where it is today. A stone laying ceremony was held on 10th April 1956 by the Mufti of Johor, Tuan Syed Alwi Adnan, who had represented the Sultan Ibrahim bin Abu Bakar of Johor. The mosque was finally declared opened on 24th January 1963 by the Yang di-Pertuan Negara, Encik Yusof bin Ishak, the first President of Singapore. It was through the funds raised by many Muslim and Non-Muslim friends supported in cash & kind. The Mosque Management Committee also decided to continue renovating the interior/exterior of the mosque. By 1995 the whole mosque was fully tiled with special designed tiles Gold/Blue colour ! I would love to visit & see the interior design, but unsure if I can, as a non-Muslim?

Not as big as the Sultan Mosque, but it does have that unique blue color.

A beautiful and unique mosque, next to a muslim cemetery. Very peaceful in the middle of busy streets. Peculiar architecture. Love the ambience

Finally had the opportunity to drop by this mosque for one of the fardhu prayers. It was skeptism earlier but was dismissed off when we were informed that this mosque is similar to any of the many mosques around in Singaore. Another unique feature about this mosque is that, they do have dedicated land space for burial which had been there for ages. Lets dive in! Parking: Very strategic indeed for many to drop by and pray. Parking is very very limited but you can park at Hotel Boss. Parking charges apply yeah. There are at least 2 levels of parking that we saw in the hotel. Else, road side parking is at ur own risk yeah. Location: Near to Bugis area and nearby to the ramen shop. This mosque can also assist those working nearby, not able to make to Sultan Mosque, to have their prayers here. Cleanliness: We definitely find this place clean and very well maintained. Just to add: The main hall is on Level 2 thus the main stairs is at the front, facing the traffic lights. There is a lift as well for the less-abled located on the side. The wudhu area is long and cleaned up as well. So ya, all in all, we found peace and serenity in the midst of uncertainties. Cheers!

This mosque is very comfortable and the atmosphere is very calm. The facilities available here are quite complete. There is a place for ablution on the ground floor. This mosque also has an elevator, to the 2nd floor for male worshipers and the 3rd floor for female worshipers. The location is very strategic in the middle of the city.
