Please be mindful about their Lunch, Tea, and Dinner time! See my photos. How can I never know this place before? I've lived not far away from Ebisu for more than a year. This is a cozy, intimate, great atmosphere, excellent service, and a traditional Japanese food cafe. Most importantly for a Muslim family like us; it serves a Halal menu! I trust their claim and the Halal logo on each of the selections. But please, you can also clarify things with them. I ordered their seafood menus. All of them were great! It was a very fulfilling meal. I also read from one of the reviews here that they use Halal chicken as well. So perhaps, next time I can visit here again for that!
We found this place on Tabelog and booked a tuna set menu. We have been dining around Japan for 2 weeks and even had a very expensive puffer fish menu just the day before at another place. This menu was by far our favourite experience! Every course was just delightful. The appetiser box to start filled us with doubt as we did the temple meal in Kyoto and didn’t really like the food so when we saw it was much of the same stuff, we were sceptical. Except that they did it sooo much better and every bite made us think, “ah is this what it’s meant to taste like”. Most of the restaurants we’ve been to had very lovely people but due to the language barrier of us not understanding enough Japanese, the courses lacked explanation of what we were eating. Not the fault of the service of course. Just us gaijin who should be learning to do better. But at Tokitarazu, we were served by a lovely lady who explained every single thing we were eating and she was so kind that it just added to our experience. When I read the reviews on Google for this place, I felt it was not truly representative of what the restaurant is capable of as it was just about their ala carte options or casual lunch sets. I would not have booked if not for the Japanese reviews on Tabelog which is why I felt I needed to write this. Our gorgeous 8 courses were just delicious and a great balance of flavours. They even cook the rice pretty much fresh at your table. We paid ¥21700 for 2 pax including 3 drinks. Fantastic!
I have enjoyed some dishes. 'Blue fin tuna sashimi' was the best. It was served in a small glass. It tastes so smooth & yummy. Restaurant runs in an old small house with dim light. Guiet. I love the place.
Was doing research for HALAL Japanese food that wasn’t ramen and stumbled upon Toki Tarazu in the 2024-2025 edition of the Tokyo Muslim Travelers’ Guide. While exquisite flavours and amazing quality await when you step into the restaurant, I would recommend this for solo travellers or couples as kids would most likely not appreciate the complex flavours.
We ordered seven seas sashimi, chicken tempura, seafood tempura, miso soup, steamed rice with fish and vege. Total around 9000¥. When we arrived, theres no one else and the environment was super cosy. We had such lovely dinner and they explain our food in detail and appreciate that it is also halal. Really fresh seafood and tempura. Will definitely coming back here again if we r in the area soon! Might even come for lunch too since they hv different menu for lunch n dinner. Tq for waiting for us even when our reservation was the last one of the day. We love it!
