This is a very nice place. I ordered the chicken lamprais for two because we northerners need a bit more food than the locals. Everything was tasty and the chili tasted a bit smoky and was potent which I really liked. Many places that say food is spicy then you get disappointed but not here. My colleague got one of the rice packets and that was good too. I would recommend this restaurant.

Chanced upon this place via a Google review. Glad we did. Located in a narrow but tastefully decorated old row house building just at the edge of Chinatown on Jalan Sultan, this place was amazing. Went on a business dinner with colleagues. Received a warm welcome from the waitstaff, place was almost empty (apparently the lunch buffet is a huge draw) - a smiling, gregarious Niroshani attended on us. She was delightful and patiently answered our questions, even summoning the remarkable wizard of a chef to our table to explain the type of ginger used in one of our dishes! Ordered Masala Tea, Sri Lankan Black Tea and Ginger Tea for drinks, followed by Mixed Lamprais (a delectable Sri Lankan dish of Dutch Burgher origin - “lump rice” mix of rice, sambal, veggies, meats, and papad), spicy/electric Prawn Sambal curry, delightful Fried Tingiree Fish with veggies, superbly spiced peppery Crab Rasam, and Pol Roti (thick yet small Rotis). Food arrived promptly and was superb - flavors and spices were entirely on point. Crockery matched the tastefully colorful decor of the restaurant. Portions were ample and prices were entirely reasonable. Set us back RM 222 for the entire meal for three persons, including 10% service tax and Sales Tax. One of the best Sri Lankan meals we have had in KL so far - entirely worth a visit; we hope to return soon.

Lamprias was not available when we are there. But the other food seems to be available. Food abit spicy for my liking. But the mutton was great. However the Morru Ice was an acquire taste which i kinda like it at the end.

Enjoyed the meals here. We ordered mutton briyani, brinjal moju, and moru. The brinjal moju was a little too sweet for my liking, and it can be overpowering when eaten on its own. The mutton was good and cooked perfectly. The iced moru was nice too, but it would be better if it was served with a bigger straw, as some of the ingredients got stuck and made it harder to drink. Price-wise, it was as expected.

Sometimes, I like to play tourist and visit parts of KL packed with visitors to enjoy the food and atmosphere. Visited the Lankan for lunch with some friends. It wasn't packed, surprisingly. The food was really good, the portions were a little small. But what we had was delicious. The only thing was that it was a little slow and there was confusion with our orders. Just 1 waiter and he had to run around tending to other tables and things got missed. Even so, I will return to sample more of the food.
