Enjoyed the different types of Nyonya kueh here, like the Ondeh ondeh; kueh salat; and rainbow nine-layered cake. The chilli Fishcake was also good and bouncy in texture. The old-school custard cream puff with its eggy filling was a nostalgic treat for Mum.
15/10/2024 Takeaway lemper udang ($1.90) & kueh salat ($1.70), was quite good. I'll be back to try other items on the menu.
I’m surprised to see the low ratings because I was so happy to find this little stand while heading to Takashimaya. Mildly sweet and sticky chewy Asian desserts are my jam and I chose three from the wide selection that they had: pink agar square (ate it before I took pics), a brown sticky rice and palm sugar cube, and a green-gray sticky rice cube. The lady working there recommended the green one when I told her what I was interested in. To be honest everything there looks incredible: colorful small, and cute. It makes me so happy to know that there’s a kitchen somewhere where they are toiling to make these old-fashioned Asian treats when most of the desserts that we encounter at the shopping malls are European cakes and such. The old ways should be preserved, and this small shop is doing its part to to keep Singaporean culinary traditions intact. I hope I can return before I finish my holiday here.
