This Spicy Moon locations may be smaller than the other two but their food is just as delicious. By this point I’ve apparently visited the other two Spicy Moon locations multiple times, but it was our first visit here that I can recall. They have around I think 10-13 tables (that are combinable to fit larger parties), in a thin long restaurant space. Me, my wife, and our friends all enjoy Spicy Moon despite most of us NOT being vegan. Because the way they make their dishes is even more flavorful than many other non vegan Chinese restaurants. My go-tos here are similar: - Mapo tofu, a classic Chinese dish that I love looking for and trying anywhere I go. It’s soft tofu, a savory spicy bean sauce, and at Spicy Moon they offer the option of adding Beyond Beef as well. - Dan Dan noodles: the way they make it, the noodles are delightfully chewy, the sauce is savory with a hint of sweet and a heat that builds faster than you’d expect. Their vegetables are great. They have a wide variety of drinks both alcoholic and not. And almost every time we visit, we order more food to go because we’ll want to have it again later in sad New Jersey.
Husband and I came for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy for a tiny place. Delicious food, great service and cool atmosphere! We love the Brussel sprouts, crispy eggplant and veggie fried rice! Step to enter. Individual gender neutral restroom on ground level.
Spicy Moon East Village nails bold, vibrant Szechuan flavors in a way that’s both craveable and completely plant-based. We started with the spring rolls and veggie dumplings — both perfectly crisp and packed with fresh, savory fillings. The dumplings especially shine in that rich chili oil, with just enough heat to keep you reaching for more. The Brussels sprouts were a knockout: crispy-edged, deeply caramelized, and slicked with a tangy, spicy glaze that could convert any skeptic. But the showstopper? The Kung Pao-style dish — smoky, spicy, slightly sweet, with that signature Szechuan numbing tingle. Every bite layered with texture and flavor. This place doesn’t just “do” vegan Szechuan — it elevates it. Easily a go-to spot when you want to light up your taste buds.
This location is super small, but so great if you get a spot. I love the decor and the chairs were so comfortable. The crabless Rangoon was my favorite dish. I also loved the huge variety of veggies in my scallion style mixed vegetable with bean curd.
TLDR; Dan Dan noodles are to die for I wish I had come here when I was ravishingly hungry because I definitely feel like I missed out on so much good food. We only ordered the spicy dumplings and Dan Dan noodles - they were both super good, really flavorful and very comforting.
