This was super interesting. Being from New York knowing the layers of history it has, it was super cool to see this time capsule. The tours are an hour long where you go into an apartment or space and really talk about the tenants that lived there. Purchasing tickets were easy, and everyone there was super nice. Our two docents were just incredible!!! We loved the 1st one so much we went back in to go on a second tour. Now, I am going on a deep dive from that time frame in NYC.

I had a fabulous tour and experience here. The gift shop is amazing and has a short video you’re able to watch. There also public bathrooms in the gift shop building basement so be sure to use those before going on your tour. I did not have a specific tour that I wanted to attend so I bought tickets when I arrived but many things were sold out so please reserve tickets in advance if you have specific interest. The tour itself was an hour, but make sure to arrive early so you can use the restroom and browse the gift shop.

definitely a valuable place to visit. great to see a piece of the past. I happened to meet women in 1902. very well organized, great scenario and a great host. I am from Eastern Europe and I am interested in history, so the fate of emigrants was even more interesting to me. a small minus that both women were from a higher social class of emigrants (both ran a family business) it would be good to see both the living conditions of an entrepreneur and an employee - that would have even greater value.

We visited the Tenement Museum on May 21, 2025, for the Under One Roof tour. Our guide was excellent and clearly very well-prepared. I learned so much more about the lives of immigrants than I did at Ellis Island. I especially appreciated the opportunity to learn about specific individuals through authentic recordings and how their stories were placed in the broader context of history. A truly powerful and moving experience!

Out second visit to the museum, although it's been a few years since our first. This time we booked two tours back to back, both were amazing with interesting facts and lots of pictures of past residents. The two tours were led by different guides and both were very passionate and engaging. It may not be on everyone's must see list when visiting New York, but it should be!
