Previous reviews claimed it would be a very memorable meal of your life. And it was! Food was specially seasoned, prepared. It feels like a vegan omakase. Monkey San is a wonderful host and you will leave delighted from the experience. A culinary adventure! Don’t miss it!
Monkey Magic was such a terrific experience. Monkey-san is a great host and terrific chef, and the explanations behind each dish were informative and entertaining. We took the lunch omakase service, and the variety of dishes and flavors was wonderful. From deep fried maitake to namero to lemon cake, every course made us say “Wow!” The atmosphere of this place was also great: quiet, intimate and congenial. Made it easy to feel right at home. The reservation system was also very easy and convenient. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in Tokyo!
This was one of the best experiences I had on my trip to Tokyo! Food was incredible but also I had such a great time in this small, personal little restaurant. The host is so friendly and welcoming, she taught us a lot about the food and customs. Highly recommended and a must for vegans in Tokyo! Also, it's no joke, that fried mushroom is something truly special
The most memorable dining experience we have ever had! Monkey-San is such a wonderful host, carefully explaining each dish and the origins of each ingredient. While every dish was delicious, the standout for me was the tempeh (which I believe was from the Nagano prefecture), which was indeed the best I have ever had :) Thank you Monkey-San for making our first meal in Japan one to remember! We will be back next time we’re in the city.
Dinner at Veganic Monkey Magic was a highlight of our trip! Reservation only and we had to pay in advance, but I'm glad we did! There are only like 7 seats at the bar and we sat there with another American couple and a Japanese couple. The food included 10 small dishes, each prepared by the monkey chef behind the bar, and then explained to us before we ate. Everything was delicious and it was a wonderful experience. The only complaint is that I wish that 10th dish had been something sweet, as we left satisfied and full but wanting a small dessert.
