During my recent visit to Junior Kuppanna, I had the pleasure of indulging in an authentic Indian dining experience. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

I ordered biryani and pani poori, both of which exceeded my expectations. The biryani was rich in flavor, with perfectly cooked rice infused with aromatic spices, and the portion size was more than generous. The pani poori was fresh and crispy, with a well-balanced combination of tangy and spicy flavors, making it an absolute delight. This restaurant is a lovely place located near the Bambalapitiya railway station. It has the charm of an old bungalow, creating a cozy and welcoming vibe.

The menu offers a wide variety of food options, with generous portion sizes and delicious flavors. Prices are quite reasonable, making it a great spot for a casual meal. The restaurant stays open until around 11:00 PM, which is convenient.

We ordered the Chicken Chukka Gravy with the unlimited paratha offer.

The Chicken Chukka gravy itself was decent, but the meat pieces were small and mostly consisted of bones, which was disappointing.

The parathas were warm when served at the table, but they became hard and inedible within a few minutes. I'm not sure why that happened, but I couldn’t manage to eat more than four.

We also tried the Chicken Biryani, which, unfortunately, was the worst I’ve ever had. It tasted as though too much tamarind and salt had accidentally been added, making it inedible. Thankfully, it was ordered by my friend—so he had to bear that one.

The Rasgulla was just average.

As for the Nool Paratha, I didn’t try it, so I can't comment.

Overall, I don’t think I’ll be visiting again. However, I am still curious to try their wheat parathas, as I believe they’re made with whole wheat flour—I'm quite done with maida-based ones.

A few items listed on the menu were not available to order, which was quite disappointing. If only a limited selection is actually being served, there’s little point in having such an extensive menu for customers to go through.

On a positive note, the waitstaff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. My issue was purely with the food. Perhaps my expectations were set too high after reading other reviews and considering the reputation of the place.

First time being here, the atmosphere was pleasing and welcoming, they had plenty of indoor and outdoor dining. We tried their Iftar Menu, it wasn’t great as we expected it. The service was extremely poor despite having a number of waiters.
