Amazing experience. I have seen couple other museums in different countries but this one has lots of relics to show. Your mind gonna explode seeing different relics. I think you need 1 full day to study the entire museum, maybe more. There are that much things to explore. Only downfall is there are only few benches to sit along the way and you have to go all the way outside for toilet facilities. But apart from that it is a good experience.

The Colombo National Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in Sri Lanka’s rich history and culture. The building itself is grand and colonial in style, adding to the experience. Inside, there’s an impressive collection of artifacts, ancient art, royal regalia, and historical exhibits. Some sections could use better lighting and clearer descriptions, but overall the displays are informative and well-curated. A great place to spend a couple of hours and gain deeper insight into the island’s heritage.

I highly recommend It might be slightly overwhelming when visiting on day one, but later it all became more in rider when I was visiting different places across the island. In particular : all the finest artwork is held here in this museum. You will not be able to see art of such quality in historical sites. For example moon stones, Buddha sculptures, guns. At least on a few occasions when traveling the island I was faced with a replica of an art piece that I have initially seen here in the original.

The Colombo National Museum was okay—not great, not terrible. Some of the exhibits were interesting, especially the historical artifacts, but overall the place felt a bit outdated and could use better maintenance. Not a lot of interactive stuff or engaging displays. It’s a decent spot if you’re into history, but don’t expect to be blown away. Worth a Quick Visit.
