My favourite chicken chop in JB and my go to comfort food. I always make sure to top it up with two sunny side ups which just elevates the taste of the dish. Has a taste of home while being a filling and high quality meal, complete with yummy sides of wedges and coleslaw. So delicious! Will be back soon for sure ? The place is also not very fancy or well renovated, which somehow adds to the local feel of the place and makes the cafe feel more authentic and down to earth.
Feels nostalgic when entering this place. The food is very basic- nothing mind blowing, just simple seasoning. Hence, bringing out the flavours of the chicken. The mushroom sauce is better than the black pepper sauce. Surprisingly, the teriyaki baked chicken is nicer than the best seller chicken chop. Both chicken chop were tender and juicy but the batter for the best seller was lacking lustre. Perhaps, the simplicity is what makes it attractive. The potato wedges were super, ultra salty but for some reason, I LOVED it! Maybe it's because the potato wedges were fresh? I'm not sure. Overall, great vibes, basic good food. Go for the baked teriyaki chicken chop with mushroom sauce if you have no idea what to order.
Just for the chops! IT Roo Café’s chicken chop is one of the better ones I’ve had. It is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and well-balanced in flavor. The unpretentious, old-school charm of the place adds to the experience. A solid pick if you're exploring Tan Hiok Nee.
