One of the best Asian fusion spots in Sydney — Ho Jiak Townhall really delivers. Came here with a group of four, and we were all seriously impressed. The Lobster Surf N Turf was next level — rich, buttery, with just a hint of spice. Moutai Roast Duck was crispy, tender, and had this subtle boozy kick that worked surprisingly well. Also loved the squid ink pasta with lobster and sea urchin — bold but balanced. The scallops with XO butter? Absolute must-order. Even the smaller dishes like the nasi goreng and popcorn chicken were solid. Creative cocktails too.Great for special nights or if you’re just keen to treat yourself.

Absolutely delicious Malaysian fusion cuisine! The salted egg yolk mud crab was incredibly flavorful — fresh, rich, and finger-licking good. Every dish was packed with bold, authentic flavors, and the service was warm and attentive. A must-visit in Sydney!

Fantastic modern Peranakan restaurant. Shout out to Nick, our waiter—friendly, attentive, and made the night even better. Everything was spot-on, from the flavorful dishes to the incredible cocktails. Prices are on the higher side, but totally expected for the area and the great atmosphere. Worth it.

A Malaysian Culinary Gem in the Heart of Sydney If you’re on the hunt for authentic Malaysian flavours in Sydney, look no further than Ho Jiak. From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted with a warm, bustling atmosphere that instantly transports you to the streets of Penang. The decor strikes a perfect balance between nostalgic and modern, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes on offer. Now let’s talk about the food—because that’s where Ho Jiak truly shines. Every dish we tried was a masterclass in bold flavours and traditional technique, but the absolute standout of the night was their Malaysian roast pork with salted duck egg mix. But what really took it to the next level was the salted duck egg mix. Creamy, rich, and slightly briny, it paired beautifully with the savoury pork, adding depth and complexity to every mouthful. The balance of textures and flavours was spot on—it’s the kind of dish you find yourself thinking about days later. It’s clear a lot of love and tradition goes into preparing it. What really impressed us, aside from the food, was the energy of the place. Ho Jiak doesn’t just serve great food—it tells a story. Whether you’re Malaysian and craving a taste of home, or a newcomer exploring the cuisine, this spot makes you feel welcome and delivers an experience that’s as memorable as it is delicious. In short, Ho Jiak is a must-visit for any food lover in Sydney. If you only try one thing, make it the Malaysian roast pork and the salted duck egg mix—you won't regret it. We’ll definitely be coming back (probably sooner than we should) for another round.
