164 A, Lebuh Campbell, street, 10100 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
Loved the food, would highly recommend. This place is like two premises, where you order and pay for food in one premise, and then carry your food (on the plate) to the other premise to dine in, felt awkward at first where you're made to carry your food from one premise to another, but it is what it is. I had the Nasi Khander which was recommended to me by people I knew. This is like the Penang dish invented by the early Tamil migrants to George Town back in the early 1900's and integrated/evolved for the locals.
We love the food very much. It is so flavourful and delicious. Highly recommended onion chicken with tomato rice. The deep fried tiger prawn and the squid were amazing.... We had lunches almost every day there when we were in Penang.
Located on Campbell Street, Hameediyah Nasi Kandar is one of the most famous and long-standing nasi kandar spots in Penang. There's almost always a queue, and for good reason — the food is absolutely worth the wait. The variety of dishes available is impressive. On my visit, I spotted some unique options like rabbit curry and fried baby sea crab alongside the usual crowd-pleasers. You can choose between plain white rice or nasi briyani (fragrant yellow rice) as your base, depending on your mood. The process is a bit unique: you select your dishes at one shop, pay there, and then you're redirected to another unit to dine. Over at the dining area, you can order your drinks, wash your hands, use the toilet, and settle your drink bill separately at the counter after your meal. Overall, the food is amazing and full of flavor — rich curries, vegetable dishes, and aromatic rice that truly hit the spot. It's no wonder this place remains a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Highly recommended if you're in Penang and craving a truly satisfying nasi kandar experience!
