About

Gyumon Shibuya is Japan’s first halal-certified Wagyu yakiniku restaurant, located at 3-14-5 Shibuya, Tokyo. It’s housed in a vintage Japanese-style building, giving the space a nostalgic, retro atmosphere that feels warm and inviting. The focus is on high-quality A5 Wagyu beef grilled “yakiniku”-style (each table has its own charcoal grill), with halal-certified ingredients throughout. The restaurant offers both accessible lunch sets and more premium dinner options, making it a popular spot for halal diners seeking authentic Japanese BBQ in Shibuya.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. If you are halel or vegan this would be the place to go. I am neither. I had the spicy sukiyaki special at level 2 and it was perfect. The strawberry milk pudding was so yummy and I don’t usually like pudding. Place a little hidden, located down the stair to the left of the sign so just look out for the stairs. They also have a room/space for prayer!

My friends made me wait for almost an hour before they arrived at the restaurant. Fortunately, the staff was really kind and understanding, allowing me to wait comfortably the entire time. It also helped that the place wasn’t too busy at that moment — such a relief! The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, with enough seating for around 20–30 people, including the counter area. I ordered the special spicy ramen at level 8 heat, along with the fried gyoza. The broth was rich and smooth — absolutely perfect with the tender meat chunks and karaage. Overall, I really appreciated the warm hospitality and enjoyed the food. I would definitely come again!

The food here is delicious, but be prepared to wait in line. All the staff members are friendly and attentive. I have dined here twice, for both lunch and dinner, and the taste of the food has been consistently good. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

Wagyu doesn’t belong in Ramen. The statement above refers to the amount of fat that the Wagyu has melting off and floating on the ramen broth. For me it was just too fatty. The broth underneath the oil was hard to taste because it kept mixing with the mass amount of fat from the meat. The place was also a bit on the pricey side I ended up paying $41 dollars for a bowl of ramen, a cup of rice, a dallop of hot sauce, 2 gyozas and some horrible kimchi. Oh also, they gave a dessert made of milk and strawberry. It was really delicious. I think $20 should be the ideal price for this meal. This place also charges you to make it spicy. Each level of heat is 100-500 yen extra. Which is a bit crazy to charge for spicyness in your food. I paid for the Japanese level 1 heat and it was ¥100. The other food ordered was a tempura bowl with 2 shrimps and a bunch of random vegetables. And we got another Wagyu bowl not in the special menu and the price was about $14 and it didn’t even have meat in it. It was crazy that a Wagyu bowl didn’t have meat. We asked the staff and I they said the meat is very small pieces. The last thing I can say about this restaurant is the amount of ice they add to the drinks is crazy. I ordered a Coke Zero. Normally restaurant bring a bottle or a can in many places this restaurant brought me a mediu glass with ice filled to the brim and the Coke Zero just as a spritzer on top. I like the fact that they are halal and family friendly with nice staff but their prices are a bit too high for this part of Shibuja. Would I recommend this place. Yes, being the only halal place nearby it is a good choice. If you don’t need the option then go elsewhere to eat. I gave this place a 4 stars because of the staff and the food wasn’t too bad but not the greatest.
