Galle Rd, Hikkaduwa 80260, Sri Lanka
FAVOURITE MEAL IN HIKKADUWA. the coconut mango curry was just absolutely scrumptious. It was so damn spicy but the rich flavours on my tongue made up for it. You have to come here. Near turtle beach, just hop on a tt and come here for a decent dinner. Thanks friends for giving us such a great meal on our first night.
I’ve now been in Hikkadua far longer than I intended. The main Galle - Colombo Rd that runs through Hikka is mainly divided in two simple ways. Jungle side and beach side. For obvious reasons on beach side it tends to be busier. That doesn’t necessarily mean you get the best restaurants. There must be 200 places to choose from. This was my 26th, I drop in impulsively each day. The season is drawing to a close here and most businesses and their staff relocate to Arugam Bay. I take my seat at the front of the restaurant and have all the noise from the busy traffic. I can hear the waves from the beach even though I must be 40-50 meters from there. The restaurant is very quiet but the camaraderie from the staff is great. The ambience, decor and layout is simplistic yet stylish. Contemporary artwork hangs on the pristine coloured walls. I’m handed a menu and my order is taken promptly. It didn’t take me long to opt for the prawn and coconut curry. For starters I chose the onion rings. A cup of Americano was my beverage of choice. The meal arrived not long after the starter. The onion rings were fresh and the batter was crisp. A garlic mayonnaise spicy dip was the accompaniment and it was very tasty. The prawn curry was divine, spiced carrot, saffron rice, aubergine, coconut and lime pickle were the small portions that also came with the meal. Staff were courteous, kind and personable. Highly recommended.
Wow, wow, wow - this place is incredible! We stopped here for breakfast and had the avocado toast and shared the breaded Tofu - without a doubt the best avocado on toast we've ever had, all the flavours were amazing. They also do great fruit juices. Definitely the best breakfast we've had during our visit to Sri Lanka!
01/06/2025 The staff was very friendly, just like the name, The place is clean, and the interior is minimal. We tried the grilled jumbo prawns, 6 large ones with delicious gravy and salad. Can give it 10/10 Perfect taste. Then we had the crispy chicken burger with avocado filling, I’d rate it 8/10. Fresh mango and passion fruit juices- NO added sugar. So healthy and refreshing! If you prefer sweet juice, remember to tell them to add sugar. Portions - one dish is enough for two people, which saves money. The staff even recommended dishes that suited the Sri Lankan style which was super helpful. The only small downside is that it’s near the main road, so you might hear bus noises. But honestly, it doesn’t ruin the experience. We spent around Rs. 8,500, including a 10% service charge. They accept cards but note there’s a 3% extra charge, so it's better to pay in cash. Not crowded when we visited, mostly foreign guests, and we got our food in about 15 minutes. Great value for money. We'll definitely visit again. Thank you, Friends Indeed Cafe!
Excellent food with good vibes in a. Ute little road side restaurant. I loved the food. My daughter enjoyed her mango prawn rice curry and trust me she is a fussy eater and she finished her meal.
