During our stay in Kyoto we just happened to walk into this restaurant whilst looking for something to eat - so glad we did. The food was incredible, a beautiful mix of European meeting Japanese cuisines. Daijo was a perfect host, playing the role of waiter, bar tender and chef. He made the experience truly special. We really enjoyed the small, intimate setting and could not recommend this restaurant enough.
We just dropped in at around 19.00 and where lucky to get seats, at this tiny and wonderful place. The chef and owner was the only staff member, both cooking and serving. It was a nice experience with an aesthetic and balanced set menu dinner, where the fresh ingredients are in the forefront. It is also a dinner and a show, while watching the amazing chef juggle the service and cooking in his originated kitchen, with his cooking skills and passion. Would recommend to book a table (seats) since quite a few guests where sadly denied excess later in the evening.
To start, you are greeted with the friendliest chef & owner. We had a set menu, and it was fantastic! A French/ Japanese infusion. My favourites were the tempura (very unique, especially the ginger tempura), the dessert, and the plum wine. What a treat, we enjoyed it immensely!
Such a lovely evening. The food was so thoughtful. And our host couldn’t be more gracious. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other guests as well. I would eat here once a month if we lived in Kyoto. I mean he makes his own plum wine.
I went with my girlfriend yesterday. Chef Daijo is really friendly, and you can feel the passion he puts into his work. The Golden Week menu is absolutely delicious and worth the price! I highly recommend trying it!!
