2 Chome-2-10 Haginochaya, Nishinari Ward, Osaka, 557-0004, Japan
I am writing a late review from my visit in March, but I want to share my experience at this fantastic place I discovered while heading back to where we were staying. It definitely did not disappoint. The owner was a wonderful person; I couldn’t speak any Japanese, but his English was superb. We had a great conversation about Australia, and it made the food taste even better. He also provided plenty of suggestions for viewing cherry blossoms, including some lesser-known spots where I could avoid large crowds of tourists. I found the curry a bit puzzling, as there wasn’t much meat in it, but I believe that’s how it’s meant to be. I have no complaints on my end—the owner has truly mastered the dish. The flavors warmed me up on a chilly winter day. I’m not sure if you remember my visit, but thank you for everything you do!
Food is great. 3 choices of curry to keep things simple but boy they hit the right spot! There're also a large variety of alcohol to go with the incredible food. Although there are only 5 seats available, its cozy and nice. Especially love the playlist of old-school city pop and beautiful historical sharing from Kaz, the owner. What a great guy and a wonderful place! Cant wait to come back again next time!
This is a small intimate place to have a great curry meal, an even better drink (there are excellent whisky's and other drinks available) but the best part is it's owner, his wit, wisdom and humor! Thanks for a wonderful evening, Zak!
Great place and a fantastic atmosphere curated by the owner. There are only three items on the menu (and a half and half option) and it is done to perfection. Thanks for a great chat, it was a great way to end our time in Osaka. If you need to wait for a seat just grab a drink in the konbini store across the road (the bar seats 5). The area also has a lot of karaoke bars with old men signing their souls out if you're that way inclined (you should be).
The curry was delicious, I recommend it spicy! The owner was so fun to talk to and we had great conversation. He was patient, letting us practice Japanese and sharing very interesting facts about Kyoto’s history and shrine recommendations. Highly recommend!
